Why make DIY Bath Bombs?

How do you feel about DIY gifts? Personally, I love them. I love giving DIY gifts and I love getting DIY gifts. I feel like the older I get, the more jaded I get to the commercialism of holidays. It’s not that I don’t appreciate gifts, because I always do, but I don’t want people to spend money buying me a gift for the sake of buying me a gift, I would rather they save their money. I do however, love it when someone gives me a homemade gift.

Once I came to this realization, I began to start creating many more homemade gifts as well. I figure if I love receiving hand made gifts, I’m sure I’m not the only one. Lucky for me, I have 2 sisters in law and 2 nieces all of which love beauty products, so hand made bath bombs and sugar scrubs are a big hit with them! These Homemade Bath Cubes are Gluten Free

For health reasons, my daughter and I are gluten free. Until I went gluten free, I had no idea that gluten was something that you had to look for in beauty products! Now that I am on guard about it, I refuse to buy bath bombs that don’t have ingredients listed and I find it safer just to make my own so that I can be sure that we are using celiac safe bath bombs.

Is it expensive to make DIY Bath Bombs?

Here’s the thing. You can go buy a single bath bomb for a buck or two, sure. It will definitely cost you more to make an entire batch. Plus, you are buying more products than you actually need, so you can make another couple batches. I like knowing that I determine exactly what products are going into the DIY bath bombs, plus, I love packaging them up to make them look extra cute to gift

Rainbow Funfetti Bath Bomb Cubes Recipe

Ingredients for Funfetti DIY Bath Bomb Cubes:

• 2 cups baking soda
• 1  cup citric acid
• 1/4 cup arrowroot powder
• 1/4 cup white kaolin clay powder
• 1/4 cup lemongrass and Chamomile Epsom salts
• 1/3 cup avocado oil
• 1/4 cup avocado butter
• 1 teaspoon end of the rainbow scented oil
• 2 tablespoons rainbow colored nonpareils
• Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
• 1 large mixing bowl
• 1 silicone cube mold

Instructions for Funfetti DIY Bath Bomb Cubes:

Steps 1-6: In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts, arrowroot powder and kaolin clay. Whisk dry ingredients together. 

Steps 7-9: Melt and mix in the avocado oil and avocado butter oil. Mix in the scented oil. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is mixed in. The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand.

Step 10: Mix in the rainbow-colored nonpareils to the bowl.

Steps 11-12:  Add your mixture to the cube mold, filling to the top and packing down firmly. Allow to dry at least 24-48 hours. To release the cubes, gently twist like an ice cube tray and when the cube begins to come out, pull gently. 

Once they are done, you are ready to package them up and prep them for gift giving. I recommend checking out thrift shops and even the dollar store for cute little jars to store and present them in.
