One of my favorite things to do with friends is to go wine tasting! It’s fun, you get some beautiful scenery and honestly, it’s a pretty budget-friendly thing to do! If you happen to be in the Willamette Valley (my neck of the woods) and you are looking for something to do, check out these great Dundee Oregon Wineries. The town of Dundee is located in the northern part of the Willamette Valley roughly an hour and 15 minutes away from the Pacific Ocean. In recent years, this community has become a popular destination for culinary and wine enthusiasts from all over the world.

Oregon’s wine country has been slowly building up its reputation over the last several decades and is now known for its world-class wines and Dundee is the perfect place to experience that. You can spend a day in the tiny town of Dundee, population roughly 3240, experiencing fine wine, amazing views, and quality time with your favorite people. Many people feel like vineyards and wine tasting is out of their budget and only for wealthy people, but give it a chance, the Oregon wine industry might just surprise you.

The Best Dundee Oregon Wineries to Visit This Year

Fox Farm Vineyards

Fox Farm Vineyard is a unique vineyard, that is open for tasting Thursday through Monday. If you have heard about the great wines at Fox Farm Vineyard, you’ll definitely want to visit the vineyard for a tasting as their wines are not available in any retail location. Outside of the tasting room and wine club, their wine can only be found throughout the United States at some of the finest restaurants, resorts, hotels, and casinos.

Dundee Wine Library

The Dundee Wine Library is located in the Dundee Hills AVA and is simply amazing. Henry and Araminta Miller are the proprietors of this small family owned winery, who are both native Oregonians. This vineyard was planted only a few years ago, so while they wait for their vines to mature, they source their fruit from local estate vineyards in the Ribbon Ridge AVA, the Dundee Hills AVA, as well as the Chehalem Mountains AVA. The Dundee Wine Library Wines include Rose and Pinot Noir varieties.

The Dundee Wine Library is also home to a small Bed and Breakfast. If you are visiting from out of the area, this is a great place to stay in order to enjoy a few days in the area.

Knudsen Vineyards

Knudsen Vineyards has been around for more than 50 years. Here you will have stunning views of Mount Hood and the Cascade Mountain Range. Established in 1971, Knudsen is an iconic Oregon vineyard whose focus is placed on creating delicious wines, specifically Pinot noir and Chardonnay. If that wasn’t amazing enough, in 1987 Knudsen Vineyards teamed up with Argyle Winery (at the time a young vineyard) with a long-term grape supply agreement. Argyle has since won many awards for their sparkling wine, pinot noir, and chardonnay wines.

One thing that I love about Knudsen Vineyards is that they offer a nice experience for the entire family. In addition to your wine tasting, you can get the juice challenge for the kiddos which includes a juice flight and snack.

Winderlea Vineyard

If you like a more boutique experience, then you will love Winderlea Vineyard. This micro boutique winery specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Winderlea specializes in wines that pair well with food but require minimal intervention in the winemaking process.

Dobbes Family Estate

Dobbes Family Estate was founded in 2002 and specializes in crafting wines such as Pinot Noir, Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, Syrah, Sparkling Wine, and more

Where is the Best Place to Find Savings on Visting Local Wineries?

Are you hoping to make your day of wine tasting budget-friendly? I have found some seriously amazing wine-tasting and vineyard flight-tasting deals at Groupon, so I would check there first. I recently spotted wine-tasting experiences starting at just $20!

You will also find that many vineyards wave tasting fees with bottle purchase (this fee is often waived with a purchase of X amount of bottles or a specific dollar amount).

Another way to find deals for these great vineyards is to sign up for their individual mailing list for each vineyard. You’ll receive notice of any upcoming events or exclusive offers that they are offering.

Lastly, if you are a wine connoisseur who plans to visit often, you can sign up for a wine club. Club members often get discounts on wine purchases.

What Special Events Can Be Celebrated at These Dundee Oregon Wineries?

Wineries and Vineyards are such wonderful places to celebrate special occasions. I visited a winery tasting room as part of a bachelorette party weekend and it was a wonderful time. They are also great for birthday parties, engagement parties, and basically, any private events that you can think of.

What better way to spend time with your favorite people than to enjoy a glass of delicious wine together?

When is the Best Time to Visit Vineyards in Dundee?

Honestly, you can visit vineyards any time you want. I love visiting on warm days where I can sit outside and sip my wine while looking at the stunning scenery. Vineyards and Wineries are typically open year-round too. You don’t have to wait until harvest season to enjoy the amazing Oregon views and the best wines.

Many vineyards are open daily, but some offer tasting by appointment only. It’s important to call ahead or check out their website before heading there.

Dundee, Oregon is a very special place that is home to a world-class selection of vineyards and wineries. If you love wine, you have got to make the time to spend some time there. You won’t regret it.

If you aren’t quite ready to head to the Willamette Valley just yet, but you want to see what it’s all about, be sure and check the local vineyards’ websites. Many of them offer a virtual tour of their facility online. I have done a virtual tour of a vineyard before and it is so cool!

Want to know what else you can do in the area? The Oregon Coast is just over an hour away and there are so many great places to visit!
