Red, White and Blueberry Dessert Salad

I don’t know about you, but I just love making easy desserts when it comes to holiday get togethers. This is especially true for those get togethers that are in the summertime (I’m talking about you, Independence Day). I also really like to theme up my desserts for holidays like this because, well, why not? That’s why every single 4th of July, I make this Red, White and Blueberry Dessert Salad that is super easy and always a hit. It’s an absolutely perfect summer treat too!

With just 3 ingredients, this one is easy. It’s great for keeping cool (which means it’s perfect for summer). It’s also super easy to make and take along with you on your camping or other summer adventures!

How to Make Red, White and Blueberry Dessert Salad

If you are ready to make yourself some delicious Red, White and Blueberry Dessert Salad, here you go!

Ingredients for making Red, White, and Blueberry Dessert Salad

You need just 3 simple and delicious ingredients for this sweet salad.

  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Fresh Blueberries
  • White Chocolate Chips

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am not a super chef. I’m not great at coming up with super creative recipes, I don’t know what foods bring out the best flavors in other foods. I know what tastes good to me and what is easy for me to create. I love this dessert salad for pot lucks, because it always tastes great and looks like I put in a little more effort than I did.

Truth be told, I don’t even have a set amount of each ingredient for you to use in this dessert salad. I typically use a 16 ounce package of strawberries, an 8 ounce package of blueberries and a half of a bag of the white chocolate chips. When I know we will be having more people joining in, I usually double that. It really is a matter of personal preference.

Can You Use Frozen Fruit in a Dessert Salad?

While you can use frozen fruit in a dessert salad, I really don’t recommend it. Frozen fruit is great for many things, but the sweet, fresh flavor just isn’t there. Plus, as your frozen fruit thaws out it your salad will definitely not have the same consistency.

Steps to Making this Dessert Fruit Salad

The following are the steps I always follow when making this dessert fruit salad:

  • Be sure and rinse your strawberries and blueberries well, cut off any stems and/or leaves.
  • Slice strawberries into quarters
  • Mix all ingredients together in large bowl

That’s it. That’s all it takes to make this delicious salad!

I like to make this fruit dessert salad before our family heads out camping. I mix it up, put it in a Tupperware container and keep it chilled in the cooler. The whole family munches on this sweet treat during our trips.
